👕 6th Grade Clothing Drive
Help support our 6th graders by donating your gently used clothing and shoes! All donations will help raise funds for our 6th Grade End-of-Year Activities, creating special memories for our students as they celebrate this important milestone.
Please clean out those closets and consider donating items your family no longer needs. Every donation makes a difference! Please place your items in a trash bag and drop off to our school office.
Thank you for supporting our 6th Grade Wildcats!
Parent-Teacher Conferences are a wonderful opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher, celebrate their successes, and talk about ways we can continue to support their learning and growth. We encourage every family to take advantage of this time to partner with your child’s teacher.
💬 Go Beyond “How’s My Child Doing?”
You may be wondering what questions to ask during your conference. Rather than simply asking, “How is my child doing?”, consider asking questions that give you a clearer picture of your child’s learning and how you can support them at home.
Here are some questions to get the conversation started:
- What are my child’s strengths as a learner?
- What skills should my child be working on next?
- What does my child do when they don’t understand something?
- Is my child an active participant in classroom learning and discussions?
- How does my child work with classmates?
- What can I do at home to support the skills my child is currently learning?
- What is one goal you would like my child to work toward next?
At Wickman, we are committed to ensuring all students meet or exceed the essential standards for their grade level. Our teachers use these standards to identify the most important knowledge and skills students need to learn and demonstrate throughout the year.
Knowing the essential standards can make your conference even more meaningful. We encourage families to ask teachers about the standards their child has mastered, the standards they are currently working toward, and what the next steps will be.
Most importantly, remember that conferences are a conversation and a partnership. Your child’s teacher brings valuable insight into your child’s learning at school, while you know your child in ways no one else does. When we put those perspectives together, we can better support every Wildcat!
We look forward to partnering with you to help your child continue to learn, grow, and thrive!
