Opened in 2003 with more than 1,100 students, Michael G. Wickman Elementary School remains the largest elementary school in the Chino Valley Unified School District.  Nestled between the rolling green Chino Hills State Park and the lovely Los Serranos Golf and Country Club, the school site is often host to local wildlife including hawks and rabbits (after school hours, of course.)  Wickman is the proud home of Winner the Wildcat, a championship track team, and a diversified collection of eager learners, parents, and staff.  In May of 2008, Michael G. Wickman Elementary School was honored with a California Distinguished School Award.  The CDSA flag flies high above the campus every day.♥

Road Trip Read-A-Thon - A/D Pages Due 1/21
Tracks A and D will began a five-day road trip that will help bring home the District Read-A-Thon Trophy.  From "first thing" Monday morning, January 11th to "last thing" Friday, January 15th, Wickman's students are kept track of their reading mileage by writing down all the pages they read during the week.  Pledges from friends and family also make this effort a fundraiser - one that is solely responsible for paying for our fabulous Renaissance Learning (AR) programs, among other reading-centered projects.

Tracks B and C have their Read a Thon week March 1 to 5. They may join us in the MPR each morning for Story Hour for K-3 students (7:30-8:15a.m.); in the Library During Lunch Monday and Friday; in the Library on Tuesday from 3:15-4:00p.m. for Donuts with Dads; in the Library on Wednesday from 3:15-4:00p.m. for Muffins with Moms; and on the field on Thursday from 12:45-1:30p.m. for a Road Trip Scavenger Hunt (permission slip required)

Hooray for Hollywood!  - A Star-Studded Jog-A-Thon

Wickman's 1st Jog-a-Thon Fundraiser for tracks A & D, on September 11th, followed by the B & C jog-a-Thon in November, had a HUGE BLOCKBUSTER showing!  We had Hollywood Executives from Paramount, Disney, Fox, and Warner Brothers Studios (our volunteers).  Our very own Wickman Directors (teachers) brought their whole cast of superstars (students) for our main event.  The temperature was HOT to go along with our blazing joggers!  Every cast member did a great job and enjoyed their time on the "Field of Fame".

Once all money is collected and counted we will see who will be our Oscar Winners for the 1) $100 Visa gift card, 2) our DSi raffle and 3)classroom smoothie parties.  All cast members who bring in a minimum of $50 will get a souvenir jog-a-thon t-shirt to go along with their participation medal.TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON!

A BIG Thank You goes to the Chino Water District for all the water bottles, Chino Ice, Eric Okazaki for the bananas, Conrad Zeltman for the great studio signs, and all our wonderful Wickman Volunteers.
